About the position

The California State University, Fresno Foundation is seeking a full-time Human Resources Coordinator (Benefits) to join the Auxiliary Human Resources Office. This position is under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for coordinating the benefits program across multiple auxiliary organizations. The HR Coordinator will provide support and assistance to employees regarding their benefit plans, ensuring that all benefits are administered accurately and effectively. This role involves a variety of tasks related to benefits management, workers' compensation, and new hire processes, among other human resources functions. In this role, the HR Coordinator will coordinate benefit programs and services for both part-time and full-time employees, ensuring that all employees receive the necessary support regarding their benefits. The incumbent will communicate any approved changes in benefit plans to employees, enroll new employees in benefit plans, and assist with open enrollment sessions. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for providing vendors with the appropriate documentation for health, dental, vision, life, pension, disability, and unemployment benefits claims. The HR Coordinator will also perform various reporting functions, including reviewing, reconciling, and organizing payroll exception reports, reconciling monthly benefit invoices, and preparing authorizations for approval. The role requires preparing annual ACA reporting data with the support of the HR Manager and resolving employee questions or concerns in a timely manner. General administrative support functions such as customer service, record-keeping, and file maintenance are also part of the job responsibilities. The coordinator may also provide training and presentations to end users and assist HR/Payroll colleagues as needed, ensuring a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate benefit programs and services for part-time and full-time employees across multiple auxiliary organizations.
  • Provide assistance to employees and supervisors regarding benefit packages.
  • Ensure accurate and effective administration of employee benefit packages.
  • Communicate approved changes in benefit plans to employees.
  • Enroll new employees in benefit plans and process employee changes.
  • Assist with open enrollment sessions for benefits.
  • Provide vendors with appropriate documentation for health, dental, vision, life, pension, disability, and unemployment benefits claims.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims.
  • Perform various reporting functions related to benefits and payroll.
  • Review, reconcile, and organize payroll exception reports.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and prepare authorizations for approval.
  • Assist with balancing benefit liability accounts on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Prepare annual ACA reporting data with support from the HR Manager.
  • Resolve employee questions or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Perform general administrative support functions such as customer service, record-keeping, and file maintenance.
  • Prepare written communications and maintain accurate records and documentation, including Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Provide training and presentations to a variety of end users when needed.
  • Assist HR/Payroll colleagues when necessary.
  • Be cross-trained in the entire HR function to provide assistance and backup when needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
