The HR Coordinator for the Employee and Labor Relations Department at Johns Hopkins University plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the department. This position involves providing high-level human resources and administrative support in various areas, including employee and labor relations, appeals, grievances, HR policy, and calendar management. The HR Coordinator will work closely with the Employee and Labor Relations leadership to resolve ELR issues and implement departmental and institution-wide projects and initiatives. In the realm of Employee Relations (ER), the HR Coordinator will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and preparing documentation for conflict resolution discussions, investigation strategies, and appeal hearings. This includes managing the calendar for ER meetings with divisional HR leadership, management, and staff, ensuring that all necessary parties are scheduled for investigation interviews and appeal hearings. For Labor Relations (LR), the HR Coordinator will manage and maintain essential documents and records related to grievances, arbitrations, and other LR matters. This includes preparing materials for Bargaining Unit meetings and contract negotiations, as well as scheduling LR meetings with divisional ELR leadership, BU management, and union representatives. The role also involves managing monthly and quarterly dues enrollment and payments, ensuring compliance with Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement timelines. The HR Coordinator will maintain the ERLR database, which includes records of disciplinary actions, appeals, grievances, and other critical information. They will also support the development and maintenance of employee notification template letters and assist in preparing materials for HR policy and compliance meetings. Additionally, the HR Coordinator will coordinate special projects, manage office workflow, schedule appointments, and assist with meeting planning and logistics. Overall, this position requires a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while supporting the Employee and Labor Relations Department in its mission to foster a positive work environment.
