About the position

The HR Director at Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) is responsible for leading and managing the organization's human resources functions, with a focus on enhancing HR programs that align with NWIRP's core values of justice, equity, diversity, and representation. This role involves collaboration with both unionized staff and management to foster a supportive workplace culture during a transformative period for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in expanding and improving HR strategy and programs.
  • Maintain direct knowledge of and experience with all major human resources functions and their administration including workforce planning, recruitment, retention, compensation, employee and labor relations, employment law, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Further union-management collaborations and ensure best practices in organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience handling immigration cases for not less than 3 years.
  • Substantial experience handling removal/deportation defense cases before the EOIR and BIA and ICE.
  • Extensive experience in asylum, withholding, and CAT cases.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of applying the categorical approach to determine divisibility and other analysis required to determine the immigration consequences of criminal conduct as applicable to discrete burdens of proof and production.
  • Extensive experience in motion practice before the EOIR and the BIA.
  • Exposure to and prior work on family and humanitarian, Special Immigrant Juvenile, and other protection-based immigration cases.
