About the position

The HR Director, People & Culture will play a pivotal role in shaping the organizational culture and ensuring a productive workforce at our client, a local organization dedicated to combating hunger in the community. This position involves developing and implementing policies and practices that foster a satisfied and engaged workforce, which includes staff, volunteers, and vocational training participants. The HR Director will be a champion for cultural practices, guiding diversity and inclusion efforts while overseeing all human resources functions. In this role, the HR Director will lead the development, implementation, and reporting of the organization's equity goals. Collaboration with leadership is essential to integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into work practices and program goals. The HR Director will also be responsible for staff support and development strategies, providing HR advice and support to managers and employees, and overseeing the compensation strategy, wage surveys, and pay equity programs. Additionally, the HR Director will recommend and implement competitive benefit plans, ensure compliance with legal HR requirements and reporting regulations, and lead the implementation of human resource systems, practices, and policies. Keeping the employee handbook legally compliant and updated is also a critical responsibility. The HR Director will prepare and monitor the Human Resource budget, develop and enforce HR policies, procedures, and guidelines, and supervise the Volunteer Manager while overseeing the volunteer engagement strategy. Furthermore, the HR Director will support vocational training participant engagement and professional skill development, oversee front desk staff and front office management, and serve on the Leadership Team to guide organizational direction and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and reporting of organization's equity goals.

  • Lead and implement human resource systems, practices, and policies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute or the Society for Human Resource Management.
  • Prior experience leading HR departments.
  • Ability to assess and deliver innovative and customer-oriented HR, volunteer management and vocational training solutions.
  • Demonstrated capability in establishing and leading a people and organization strategy to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems and the ability to operate a personal computer in a networked environment.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and a commitment to engagement in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work.
  • Care and concern about food-insecurity in our community and a desire to make a difference.
  • Ability to effectively present and speak before small to large groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities, while delivering quality service within narrow time limitations.
