About the position

Our client, a global entertainment provider, is seeking a dynamic and versatile HR Director to join their team in New York City. This role is pivotal in managing the human resources function across multiple sites, ensuring that the organization attracts, retains, and develops top talent while fostering a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of generalist HR management experience, particularly within a multi-site organization, and will have a proven track record of working independently in an HR department. This position requires a deep understanding of employee relations, especially in a union environment, and a solid foundation in employment law to navigate the complexities of labor relations and compliance effectively. The HR Director will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the company's goals, enhancing employee engagement, and driving organizational effectiveness. The role demands a keen attention to detail, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. The HR Director will also oversee key HR functions such as benefits administration, organizational design and development, compensation strategies, and talent management initiatives. This position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $165,000, commensurate with experience, and presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within a leading entertainment organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage the HR function across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Develop and implement HR strategies to enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
• Oversee employee relations, particularly in a union environment, ensuring compliance with labor laws.
• Administer benefits programs and ensure competitive compensation strategies are in place.
• Lead talent management initiatives, including recruitment, development, and retention strategies.
• Provide guidance on organizational design and development to support business objectives.
• Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Over 10 years of generalist HR management experience within a multi-site organization.
• Experience in a standalone HR department is strongly preferred.
• In-depth employee relations experience, particularly in a union environment.
• Solid foundation in employment law and labor compliance.
• Competence in benefits administration, organizational design & development, compensation, and talent management.

Nice-to-haves

• HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
