About the position

The HR Director will lead the Human Resources department at the Exceptional Children's Foundation, focusing on developing and coordinating HR policies and activities that align with the organization's mission and strategic goals. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive work environment for employees while ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage core HR programs, including benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
• Partner with senior leadership on staffing, recruitment, and retention strategies while supporting managers with HR guidance.
• Oversee benefits administration, including health plans, retirement savings, leave management, and unemployment.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR policies, maintaining up-to-date documentation and regulatory adherence.
• Drive employee engagement and satisfaction through relations practices, training, and support, and coordinate investigations as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years in a Director-level HR role, preferably in a similar organization.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is advantageous.
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR regulations.
• Valid California driver's license with a clean record, reliable transportation, and negative TB test (initial and every three years).
• DOJ background clearance is required for employment.
