About the position

The Director, Human Resources at Wacker Polysilicon N.A., LLC in Charleston, TN, is a pivotal role that requires a highly visible and hands-on leader within the HR organization. This position is designed to support the multi-divisional site, which includes both Polysilicon and Silicones teams. The HR Director will work closely with the Charleston leadership team to ensure alignment with regional HR guidelines, policies, and structures. This role is not only about managing HR functions but also about being a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing consultation, recommendations, and fact-based guidance to enhance organizational effectiveness. In this capacity, the HR Director will be responsible for managing various HR processes, including talent acquisition, employee relations, leadership development, and change management. The incumbent will collaborate with the US headquarters and Centers of Excellence (COE) to implement best practices in talent management and operational excellence. The HR Director will also lead a team of HR professionals, ensuring that the HR team is developed and equipped to meet the ongoing needs of the business. This role is crucial for driving the diversity strategy and fostering a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and retention. The HR Director will also play a significant role in employee and leadership development by conducting comprehensive training initiatives and coaching managers and team members. The position requires a strong understanding of HR legislation and practices, as well as the ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The HR Director will be expected to maintain confidentiality, build relationships, and influence decision-making within the organization, all while ensuring compliance with federal and state legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a HR Business Partner for senior leadership, providing consultation and recommendations.
  • Build solid working relationships with peers and across the organization.
  • Manage talent acquisition and management, leadership development, employee relations, and operational excellence processes.
  • Participate in the planning process for the organization to assist in profitable growth.
  • Ensure strategies and policies are aligned and consistently applied across the region.
  • Lead a team of HR professionals to support the daily and ongoing needs of the business.
  • Work collaboratively with the Talent Acquisition COE to attract and retain talent.
  • Direct talent management, talent assessment, career development, and succession planning processes.
  • Drive the Diversity strategy within the organization.
  • Conduct comprehensive training and development initiatives for employees and leaders.
  • Promote a positive work environment through compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Support the development and launch of effective communications programs.
  • Drive retention and reward and recognition initiatives throughout the business unit.
  • Contribute to organizational change management initiatives and lead cultural change initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in the Human Resources field with generalist activity.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing employees.
  • Experience supporting both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated strong HR generalist skills and abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Self-motivated with competent use of Microsoft Office and SAP HR.
  • Proven effective ability to build relationships and influence thinking within an organization.
  • Proven ability to drive consensus around difficult issues.
  • Proven track record in developing direct reports.
  • Able to establish and manage priorities and expectations of demanding client groups.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communications skills - interpersonal, presentation, written, spoken.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Strong credibility and professional competence with senior corporate management team and operations management.
  • Effective facilitation, teambuilding, and networking skills.
  • Thorough understanding of US and regional state human resources legislation and practices.
  • Strong internal customer-focus and proven ability to work in a process-driven culture.
