About the position

The HR Director is responsible for overseeing all HR functions within the organization, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, performance management, payroll administration, and compliance. This role serves as a strategic partner to the Executive team, focusing on enhancing organizational culture, managing change, and developing talent to foster a high-performance environment. The HR Director will implement various people programs and initiatives to improve employee experience and engagement, particularly in a hybrid workforce setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Manage full cycle recruitment and interview process including targeted sourcing and selection tools.
  • Conduct reference checks, review compensation recommendations, and extend offers.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of recruiting plans and maintain recruiting reports.
  • Ensure all pre-employment processes for new hires are completed.
  • Lead onboarding experience for new hires through orientation.
  • Develop and execute talent management processes including performance management and learning initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits to gather insights from field employees.
  • Resolve employee relations issues by investigating complaints and recommending solutions.
  • Update and maintain employee data in HR systems.
  • Act as a change agent supporting effective change management strategies.
  • Develop and implement policies for effective management of people resources.
  • Complete special projects by clarifying objectives and conducting research.
  • Spearhead open enrollment process and manage employee benefits inquiries.
  • Serve as payroll and time/attendance administrator and liaison to finance/payroll team.
  • Manage Family and Medical Leave administration and monitor employee leave status.
  • Ensure HR filing system meets compliance and record-keeping requirements.
  • Lead culture initiatives to increase employee engagement.
  • Monitor compliance with employment laws and company policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years in human resources with experience in recruitment, payroll administration, and policy review.
  • Preferred experience in construction, development, real estate, or similar industry.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS configuration and implementation initiatives.
  • Ability to research and analyze problems at a senior level.
  • Complete understanding of HR policies and procedures with interest in progressive HR.
  • Excellent people management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with all levels of the organization and influence Executive leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel.
