About the position

The HR Director at Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI) is responsible for driving and managing all human resources activities within the organization. This role focuses on fostering a supportive culture, developing compensation and benefit plans, creating training programs, and resolving employee relations issues. The HR Director collaborates closely with the CEO and senior management to enhance organizational potential and ensure a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Fostering an environment of open-door communication to ensure a supportive employee experience.
  • Developing and sustaining consultative relationships with leaders and their teams as a trusted partner and advisor.
  • Driving talent initiatives to meet key business metrics and coaching teams effectively.
  • Resolving employee relations issues while ensuring adherence to company values.
  • Managing audits related to benefits plans, workers compensation, and 403(b) plan testing.
  • Identifying and utilizing metrics to ensure consistency of HR policies and practices across the organization.
  • Coordinating and implementing projects in employee relations, training, development, diversity, equality, inclusion, and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with at least 7 years of increasing HR responsibilities required.
  • SHRM certification is preferred.
  • Experience in a geographically dispersed environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR practices including performance and change management, leadership coaching, employee relations, and compensation.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics; good communicator with strong listening skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable driving change and embracing innovation in complex situations.
  • Proven experience in managing others, including coaching and developing team members.
