About the position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading strategic and tactical HR support for the Northeast and Southeast regions of Maxim Crane Works. This hybrid role involves working closely with regional operational leadership on various HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and legal compliance. The HR Director will also travel to support offices across the region approximately 25-50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a key HR strategic business partner with business leadership teams to develop and execute critical business and organizational strategies.
  • Act as a credible coach and confidante to leadership teams and a strong employee advocate.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and counsel on matters related to talent, organizational change, human capital, labor relations, and employee engagement.
  • Manage employee relations with expertise in investigations, performance management, and relationship building.
  • Develop and execute HR projects, processes, and programs aligned with business objectives.
  • Serve as an expert in change management processes to positively impact organizational effectiveness.
  • Participate in monthly regional business reviews to present HR metrics and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Collaborate with other HR leaders to share best practices and critical needs issues.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on organizational development matters.
  • Build and support an employee engagement strategy that facilitates organizational performance and enables successful organizational change.
  • Focus on operational excellence through innovation, efficiency, process excellence, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with fellow HR team members to deliver best-in-class HR leadership and support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10 years of human resources management experience with multi-site responsibility.
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized work environment.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of business beyond the HR function.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, negotiation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and adapt national strategies at a local/regional level.
  • Self-motivated with outstanding planning, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend solutions to improve employee engagement, performance, and retention.
  • Excellent presentation skills and executive presence.
