About the position

The HR Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role within the Human Resources team in the hospitality and restaurant industry. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing employee relations, and providing operational HR support. The specialist will work closely with leadership and restaurant teams to address compliance requirements and foster a positive work environment, making it ideal for experienced HR professionals in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage I-9 forms and compliance documentation for new hires, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Lead employee relations initiatives, addressing and resolving workplace concerns effectively.
  • Oversee and enhance onboarding processes to ensure a seamless new hire experience.
  • Maintain compliance acknowledgments and training records; ensure accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping in HR systems.
  • Track and manage state and legislative regulatory changes that impact restaurant operations.
  • Distribute HR compliance posters to restaurant locations and ensure compliance with updated regulatory requirements.
  • Update and manage tip credit forms, ensuring compliance with wage laws and regulatory updates.
  • Review, organize, and maintain employment and personnel files securely.
  • Prepare timely responses to third-party subpoenas, personnel file requests, and other employment-related inquiries.
  • Assist with data compilation, analysis, and reporting as required.
  • Provide guidance to leadership and employees on HR policies and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in HR, with a strong focus on compliance and employee relations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with high-volume I-9 processing, E-Verify, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply state and federal employment laws and regulations.
