About the position

The HR Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for providing guidance to management and employees on various HR-related issues, including performance concerns, conflict resolution, and compliance with employment laws. This hybrid role requires both remote work and onsite presence twice a week in Vienna, VA, and aims to promote a fair and equitable work environment through effective employee engagement and policy interpretation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to management and employees on performance concerns and conflict resolution.
  • Assist in organizational changes and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employment/labor laws and EEO regulations.
  • Assess and address employee engagement and performance improvement efforts.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve employee grievances or charges.
  • Educate managers on HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Effective knowledge of local, state, and federal employment regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state leave and disability laws (HIPAA, FMLA, ADA).
  • Experience managing multiple priorities independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in influencing, negotiating, and persuading for positive outcomes.
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP Certification.
