The HR Generalist 2 at UC Irvine plays a crucial role in managing staff personnel and payroll actions for the Campus Recreation Department. This position operates under the general supervision of the HR Generalist 3 and is responsible for maintaining statistical data, personnel records, and payroll records. The HR Generalist 2 serves as the coordinating point for personnel and payroll actions within the department, applying professional human resources practices and organizational policies to guide supervisors and managers in resolving various human resources issues that may arise. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of HR policies and procedures, as well as the ability to analyze complex personnel data and make informed recommendations. In addition to managing personnel and payroll actions, the HR Generalist 2 is expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills to conduct thorough analyses and develop actionable recommendations. The position demands a high level of organization and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The HR Generalist 2 must be adept at handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy, ensuring that all interactions are conducted with confidentiality and sensitivity to campus policies. The role also involves independently managing projects and setting priorities based on the relative importance of job responsibilities. The HR Generalist 2 is expected to have a foundational knowledge of human resources management systems (HRMS) and related business software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, industrial psychology, HR management, or a related field is required, along with 3-5 years of experience in a human resources generalist role or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with the UCPath system and knowledge of university personnel and payroll policies.
