In addition to managing personnel and payroll actions, the HR Generalist 2 is expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills to conduct thorough analyses and develop actionable recommendations. The position demands a high level of organization and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The HR Generalist 2 must be adept at handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy, ensuring that all interactions are conducted with confidentiality and sensitivity to campus policies. The role also involves independently managing projects and setting priorities based on the relative importance of job responsibilities. The HR Generalist 2 is expected to have a foundational knowledge of human resources management systems (HRMS) and related business software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, industrial psychology, HR management, or a related field is required, along with 3-5 years of experience in a human resources generalist role or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with the UCPath system and knowledge of university personnel and payroll policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all staff personnel and payroll actions for the Campus Recreation Department.
  • Maintain statistical data, personnel records, and payroll records.
  • Serve as the coordinating point for personnel and payroll actions within the department.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Conduct analysis and develop recommendations based on personnel data and regulations.
  • Handle difficult or volatile situations effectively and with tact.
  • Independently manage projects while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to campus policies.
  • Set priorities independently to reflect the importance of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, industrial psychology, HR management or related area.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a human resources generalist or in administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS) and related business software programs.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to handle projects independently with confidentiality.
