About the position

The HR Generalist at Republic Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting a designated business unit by defining and executing HR strategies that align with business objectives. This position involves close collaboration with the HR Business Partner to administer various HR strategies, programs, policies, and processes. The HR Generalist is responsible for enhancing employee engagement, managing performance, and overseeing the onboarding process. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with administrative, data analysis, and organizational capabilities. They must be adept at balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the HR Generalist will provide guidance and coaching to both managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs. They will plan, prepare documents, and conduct HR-related functions throughout the employee life cycle, fostering positive employee relations. This includes onboarding, managing employee experiences, handling terminations, and addressing leave of absence matters. The HR Generalist will proactively address employee concerns and coach managers to improve work relationships, enhance morale, and boost productivity and retention. The position also entails leading new hire orientations to ensure compliance with company guidelines and conducting initial employee relations investigations when necessary. The HR Generalist will advise and guide managers on performance issues, disciplinary actions, and other employee relations matters, ensuring the proper maintenance of confidential employee information and records. They will analyze, interpret, and report on data such as turnover and engagement metrics, and lead special projects related to the effective use of human resources initiatives within the business. Staying current with HR best practices through educational opportunities and professional publications is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and coaching to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years of human resources experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple diverse work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality results and deliverables.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Data analytical skills for report creation and maintenance.
  • Workday experience is a plus.
