About the position

The HR Generalist at Republic Services plays a crucial role in supporting a designated business unit by defining and executing HR strategies that align with business objectives. This position involves close collaboration with the HR Business Partner to administer various HR strategies, programs, policies, and processes. The HR Generalist is responsible for enhancing employee engagement, managing performance, and facilitating onboarding processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with exceptional administrative, data analysis, and organizational abilities. They must be adept at balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the HR Generalist will provide guidance and coaching to both managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs. They will plan, prepare, and conduct HR-related functions throughout the employee life cycle, which includes onboarding, employee experience, terminations, and leave of absence management. Proactively addressing employee concerns and coaching managers to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention is a key responsibility. The HR Generalist will also lead new hire orientations to ensure compliance with company guidelines and conduct initial employee relations investigations when necessary. Additionally, the HR Generalist will advise and guide managers on performance issues, disciplinary actions, and other employee relations matters, ensuring the proper maintenance of confidential employee information and records. They will be responsible for timely and accurate data entries into Workday, analyzing and reporting on data such as turnover and engagement metrics. The role also involves leading and assisting with special projects and research related to human resources initiatives, while staying current with HR best practices through continuous education and networking. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3 years of human resources experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple diverse work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality results.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Data analytical skills for report creation and maintenance.
