About the position

The HR Generalist position at Sabre Industries Inc. is a vital role within the organization, primarily focused on supporting the human resources functions at the Galvanizing Facility located in Sioux City, IA. This position is responsible for a variety of essential duties that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR department. The HR Generalist will be involved in the recruitment process, which includes reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, and scheduling interviews. This role also coordinates new hire paperwork, schedules pre-employment screenings, and conducts orientation for new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience. In addition to recruitment, the HR Generalist manages the applicant tracking system (ATS), HRIS databases, and time and attendance programs. This includes responding to verification of employment requests, unemployment claims, and worker's compensation wage statement requests. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, as the HR Generalist will reconcile weekly uniform invoices and submit employee portions to payroll. Furthermore, the position involves providing administrative support for the Affirmative Action Plan, utilizing tools such as Excel and HR databases to maintain compliance and organization. Confidentiality is paramount in this role, as the HR Generalist will be responsible for maintaining and organizing personnel records and worker's compensation records. This includes inputting and filing confidential employee information, such as direct deposits, contact information, W4 forms, and disciplinary actions. The HR Generalist will also assist the HR Manager in setting up employee activities and recognition events, as well as delivering monthly safety meetings and training for employees at all levels. Customer service is a key component of this position, as the HR Generalist will provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service to employees, applicants, and vendors/consultants. The role requires a professional image and demeanor, as well as the ability to ensure compliance with all HR-related state and federal laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. The HR Generalist will also monitor and update bulletin board communications and perform additional duties as assigned, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews applications, phone screens applicants and schedules interviews

Requirements

  • Experience in human resources or related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of HR-related state and federal laws and regulations
