About the position

The HR Generalist position at Veolia North America is a full-time role based in Corona, CA, offering a pay rate of $28 to $35 per hour. This position is designed to provide comprehensive human resources support to various business units within a multi-state and multi-location environment. The HR Generalist will report directly to the HR Director and will work closely with HR Business Partners to complete essential HR tasks. A key aspect of this role is maintaining strict confidentiality while handling sensitive company and employee information. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including but not limited to managing employee data, developing job descriptions, overseeing performance management processes, and handling employee leave processes such as Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration, customer service, and the ability to multitask effectively. The HR Generalist will also be involved in data entry and maintenance of various databases and spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity through careful verification of inputs and calculations. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist will create, run, and distribute both standard and customized reports to communicate follow-up requirements and summarize HR activities. The position also involves working with a team to develop and maintain standard templates and presentations to enhance efficiency. The HR Generalist will occasionally schedule meetings, coordinate arrangements for conferences and special events, and maintain an inventory of departmental office supplies. The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to plant areas, which may expose the employee to certain hazards such as noise and chemicals. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, along with 2-4 years of previous HR experience. Advanced PC skills, particularly in spreadsheets and presentations, are essential, as is a solid understanding of labor laws and HRIS systems. The HR Generalist must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end generalist support to business units in a multi-state, multi-location environment.
  • Assist HR Director and HR Business Partners in completing HR tasks.
  • Maintain strict standards of confidentiality in handling sensitive company and employee information.
  • Manage employee data, job descriptions, and performance management processes.
  • Oversee employee leave processes including STD, LTD, and FMLA.
  • Enter data from various sources to maintain and update databases and spreadsheets.
  • Ensure data integrity by verifying input and calculations.
  • Create, run, and distribute standard and customized periodic reports.
  • Work with a team to develop and maintain standard templates and presentations.
  • Maintain inventory of departmental office supplies and prepare purchase requests.
  • Occasionally schedule and maintain calendars for meetings and coordinate arrangements for conferences and special events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of previous HR experience required.
  • Advanced PC skills with proficiency in spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory and procedural requirements.
  • Solid understanding of labor law, organizational development, and HRIS systems (PeopleSoft preferred).
  • Ability to interface, negotiate, and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Labor Unions and Union Avoidance activities preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or other HR certification preferred.
