About the position

The HR Generalist I position at Ravenswood Family Health Center is a vital role responsible for several key human resources functions that are essential to the smooth operation of the organization. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including recruiting, compensation, benefits administration, workers compensation, employee relations, training, diversity initiatives, employee engagement, and maintaining employee records. The HR Generalist I will facilitate and communicate organizational policies and programs while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. This role also involves providing internal support and partnership to deliver the necessary human resources services to the organization. In addition to these core responsibilities, the HR Generalist I will manage vendor relationships that provide supplemental HR processes and services. The position requires interfacing with all levels of employees, including providers, volunteers, students, and senior management, ensuring that HR services are delivered effectively across the organization. The HR Generalist I will also be involved in various administrative duties, including managing electronic filing systems, updating HR databases, and maintaining employee files. This role is crucial in supporting the HR department in its mission to foster a positive work environment and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. The HR Generalist I will also play a key role in benefit communications, assisting employees with their inquiries and directing them to appropriate resources. This includes managing benefit enrollment, change requests for health, vision, and dental insurance, as well as retirement plans and COBRA continuation. The position requires a high level of professionalism, particularly when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues, and the ability to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Overall, the HR Generalist I is expected to contribute to continuous improvement projects and support the HR management team in various initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for all phases of workforce planning and employee movement, including new hires, transfers, and terminations.
  • Manage electronic filing and update HR database as needed and when appropriate.
  • Create, update, and maintain employee files, process various forms and requests, prepare reports, and provide information to employees regarding established HR programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Payroll department to ensure timely processing of Personnel Action Forms for bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assist in benefit communications by answering employee questions and directing employees to appropriate sources.
  • Act as administrative support in all areas of HR including benefit enrollment, change requests for health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement plans, COBRA continuation, workers compensation, and unemployment.
  • Respond to employees' benefit questions and assist with resolution of problems regarding access to or filing for State benefits.
  • Support HR Management in responding to initial leave of absence (LOA) inquiries from staff.
  • Research compliance with regulatory agency requirements and provide input to HR Director and HR Manager.
  • Ensure human resources policies, procedures, and programs are being met, and make recommendations for improvement when needed.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR programs to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Participate on special projects as requested by HR Director and HR Manager.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

Requirements

  • Completion of COVID-19 vaccine series and booster required.
  • One to two years of HR administrative experience or related experience.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations, recruitment techniques, and tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience using PayCom highly desirable.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
