About the position

Assistance Plus is seeking an experienced HR professional to join our growing agency! The HR Generalist II will provide overall support with the benefits administration process, ensuring that all aspects of employee benefits are managed effectively. This position will also have a strong focus on employee recognition and assisting with efforts related to recruitment and retention for the agency. The role requires a commitment to a regular office schedule, working five days per week from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. In this role, the HR Generalist II will assist with all aspects of benefits administration, including new enrollments, terminations, ACA eligibility, and resolving discrepancies with carriers and payroll. The individual will be responsible for processing monthly billings from insurance providers, ensuring accuracy, and resolving any discrepancies. Additionally, the HR Generalist II will conduct various checks for employees, including monthly MBCC re-checks, MaineCare and OIG checks, and CPS/MVR/SAMs checks every two years. The HR Generalist II will also act as a backup for completing I-9 forms accurately, assist with processing employee terminations and evaluations, and perform routine clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, and data entry. The individual will track job descriptions, ensure compliance with employment law posters, conduct exit and stay interviews, and present turnover and retention statistics to the HR Manager. Furthermore, the HR Generalist II will assist with unemployment claims, policy reviews, and wellness initiatives, while also providing social media support to the HR Specialist and Marketing Coordinator. This position is integral to maintaining a positive work environment and supporting the overall HR functions of the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with all aspects of benefits administration including new enrollments, terminations, ACA eligibility, resolving discrepancies with carriers and payroll, and answering benefit-related questions
  • Processing monthly billings from insurance providers, reviewing billings for accuracy, codes, and advances for payment; resolving discrepancies with carriers, payroll, and agency; processing changes within deadlines
  • Conducting monthly MBCC re-checks for all employees
  • Conducting monthly MaineCare and OIG checks
  • Conducting CPS/MVR/SAMs checks for current employees every two years
  • Acting as backup for completing all I-9s accurately to ensure required guidelines are met upon hire
  • Assisting with processing all employee terminations
  • Assisting with processing all employee evaluations
  • Performing routine clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, and data entry
  • Tracking and ensuring all job descriptions are reviewed annually
  • Ensuring yearly employment law posters are updated and posted at each location
  • Conducting exit interviews and reporting findings to HR Manager
  • Conducting stay interviews and reporting findings to HR Manager
  • Presenting statistics on turnover and retention to HR Manager
  • Assisting HR Manager with unemployment claims as needed
  • Assisting with policy reviews and edits
  • Managing the Rising Star program
  • Researching and analyzing compensation trends annually, making suggestions to HR Manager for compensation updates for the agency
  • Assisting the HR Manager with Wellness initiatives, including updating the Wellness Board quarterly
  • Providing social media support to HR Specialist and Marketing Coordinator
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of related experience in a human resources capacity; preferably with prior benefits administration and compensation experience
  • Associate's Degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid State of Maine driver's license and automobile insurance coverage of $50k/$100k
  • SHRM-CP or PHR strongly preferred
  • Must have intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • A positive attitude with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
