About the position

The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting various HR-related functions within the organization, working closely with management to ensure effective human resource practices across multiple job sites. This position involves responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, compliance with employment laws, and recruitment, with a focus on creating a positive work environment and supporting individuals with significant disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in HR-related duties on a professional level and support various job sites/locations.
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
  • Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures and guide management.
  • Prepare and maintain the employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining affirmative action programs and filing annual reports.
  • Manage Benefits Administration for all employees from hire to retire.
  • Assist with the Company's Leave of Absence Programs and track employees on LOA.
  • Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Maintain Human Resource information system records and compile reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ability One program and maintain employee ratio per compliance guidelines.
  • Provide training, coaching, counseling, and development to staff.
  • Participate in job site visits and maintain employee relations by engaging with managers and employees.
  • Consult with HR Leadership on personnel matters and anticipate potential issues.
  • Work with Directors on inter-divisional communication for compliance programs and business strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment and labor laws.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
  • Represent the organization at community and industry events.
  • Provide guidance and assistance with full-cycle recruiting and onboarding.
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Requirements

  • Preferred experience with high volume recruiting and AbilityOne compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration and employee relations.
  • Experience in training, performance management, and policy implementation.
  • Familiarity with affirmative action and employment law compliance.
  • Ability to maintain HR information system records and compile reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
