About the position

Trident Seafoods is seeking an Alaska HR Generalist to join our team in Sand Point, AK. As the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America, Trident is committed to providing comprehensive HR support to our operations teams across various plant locations in Alaska. The HR Generalist will work under the general direction of an Alaska HR Manager and will be responsible for administering policies and procedures in all areas of Human Resources. This role is essential in ensuring that our HR practices align with Trident's standards and support our operational goals. The HR Generalist will act as a business partner to the operations teams, providing HR support that includes administering company policies, procedures, and programs. This position will facilitate the internal hiring process by posting job openings, recruiting, and selecting employees to fill vacant positions in collaboration with the appropriate supervisors. The HR Generalist will also conduct employee onboarding and assist management in monitoring employee performance according to Trident's standards. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist will maintain records and complete employment-related forms, including separation forms and documentation for exit interviews. They will administer benefit programs, explain benefits information to employees, and conduct open enrollment meetings as required. The HR Generalist will partner with leadership to resolve employee performance issues and assist supervisors in providing counseling to employees. They will also manage leaves of absence and requests for accommodation, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The role requires maintaining the integrity of the Health Placement Questionnaire (MPQ) and ensuring that employees complete it fully and honestly. The HR Generalist will facilitate the employee performance review program, ensuring compliance with Trident's procedures and equity within the organization. They will work directly with plant leadership to ensure compliance with company procedures for terminations, promotions, safety, and sexual harassment. Additionally, the HR Generalist may conduct or assist with investigations and deliver training for management and employees as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides HR support as business partners to the operations teams, including administering company policies, procedures and programs.
  • Facilitates the internal hiring process by posting, recruiting and selecting employees to fill vacant positions along with the appropriate supervisor.
  • Conducts employee onboarding and assists management with monitoring performance according to Trident standards.
  • Keeps records and completes employment related forms, and documentation including separation forms and related documentation, conducts exit interviews as appropriate.
  • Administers benefit programs and explains benefits information to employees. Conducts open enrollment meetings if required.
  • Partners with leadership to resolve employee performance issues and assists supervisors with providing counseling to employees.
  • Counsel with plant leadership in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Reviews and manages leaves of absence and requests for accommodation and insures compliance with ADA.
  • Maintains integrity of Health Placement Questionnaire (MPQ) by ensuring employees complete the MQP fully and honestly.
  • Facilitates the employee performance review program to ensure compliance with Trident procedures and equity within the organization.
  • Works directly with plant leadership to ensure compliance with company procedures for terminations, promotions, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Conduct exit interviews and employee surveys.
  • Delivers training for management and/or employees as needed.
  • May conduct or assist with investigations.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years' experience working in one or more functional areas of Human Resources or a related area. Generalist experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in Spanish is preferred
  • SHRM CP or HRCI PHR Certification preferred.
