About the position

As an HR Generalist at McKinsey & Company, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Central region offices, which encompass over 4,600 consulting and non-consulting colleagues. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate key HR elements throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring that our colleagues receive exceptional support and that the firm remains compliant with all legal requirements. You will act as a trusted resource for our colleagues, providing guidance and answering HR-related questions while escalating issues as necessary. Your duties will include managing onboarding and offboarding processes, facilitating role changes and mobility cases, and administering benefits, including the open enrollment process. You will also be responsible for HR data management with an audit mindset, overseeing development processes such as performance management and capability building, and communicating policies and procedures effectively. Additionally, you will engage in risk management efforts to protect both the firm and its members. In this role, you will utilize HR systems such as People Central and ServiceNow, building expertise in key HR topics while contributing to strategic projects and office priorities. As part of the broader North America HR team, you may also take on leadership roles in specific service lines or projects, collaborating with colleagues to enhance our HR offerings and support the overall mission of the firm.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in HR or a related field.
  • 1+ years of general HR experience.
  • Previous experience working within an HRIS.
  • Understanding of local labor laws.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive and complex employee relations situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse range of people.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Evidence of sound judgment, professionalism, maturity, and trustworthiness.
