About the position

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is essential in ensuring that the HR department operates smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the organization. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the HR function, including compliance tracking, recruitment, employee onboarding, and maintaining employee records. In this position, the HR Generalist will review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. The HR Generalist will also recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborating with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings. Additionally, the HR Generalist will conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications, facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding programs, and perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs. This includes managing employee inquiries, vendor accounts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Facilitates new hire orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Manages vendor accounts and reconciles invoices to ensure accurate balancing.
  • Responsible for employee file management to ensure information is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of human resource experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
