About the position

Vetcor is seeking an HR Generalist to join our growing team, providing essential support to our twenty Canadian practices while also leading support for our US territory. Established in 1997, Vetcor is a community-centric veterinary services company that supports over 850 practices across the US and Canada. Our mission is to provide excellent care and service to both patients and clients in their communities, and we believe that our HR team plays a vital role in achieving this goal. As an HR Generalist at Vetcor, you will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, including providing general HR support to the company, which encompasses handling disciplinary matters, conducting investigations, ensuring safety compliance, and managing benefits administration. You will assist with life changes enrollments and cancellations, and help enroll new hires into our benefits programs. Additionally, you will serve as the first line of contact for general employee benefits inquiries through our HR email and Helpdesk Ticketing system. Your role will also involve collaborating with managers to process Leave of Absence requests and returns, including the processing of Records of Employment (ROEs). You will monitor compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, support the company's safety program by working with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) on any requests, and communicate company policies to both management and employees. Furthermore, you will assist with various HR and Payroll projects across our Canadian and US operations, contributing to the overall effectiveness of our HR function.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general HR support to the company including disciplinary matters, investigations, safety, and benefits.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including life changes enrollments and cancellations, and enrolling new hires.
  • Serve as a first line of contact for general employee benefits inquiries through HR email and Helpdesk Ticketing system.
  • Work with managers on processing Leave of Absence requests and returns, including processing Records of Employment (ROEs).
  • Monitor compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience in Human Resources.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Experience working at a multi-site company is a plus.
