About the position

The HR Generalist provides HR support in areas such as recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, training, development, orientation, data administration and documentation, talent management, HR compliance, and other related activities. The role involves supporting and promoting company core values, driving strong employee relations, and building relationships across various functions. The HR Generalist will also handle policy, procedure, and process administration, benefit administration, unemployment and leave management, systems support, safety and worker's compensation, recruiting and onboarding, employee engagement, talent development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support and promote company core values of honesty, professionalism, respect, trust and teamwork.
  • Drive strong employee relations through frequent and clear communications.
  • Build and develop close relationships with cross functions (Operations, PMO, SC, Finance, PI and Engineering).
  • Interface and communicate with employees regarding basic HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist employees and managers with routine HR questions and employee relation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret and provide guidance regarding federal, state, and local employment laws/policy.
  • Perform benefit administration within policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with payroll for pay and deduction related issues.
  • Respond to inquiries from third party vendors regarding disability, unemployment, leave of absence, etc.
  • Administer off-boarding activities including exit interviews and collection of company property.
  • Assist employees with the use of HR systems such as the Self-Service Portal and Talent Management System.
  • Support EH&S officer in the implementation of safety initiatives.
  • Carry out recruiting processes such as scheduling of interviews and maintaining applicant tracking system.
  • Support the employee engagement strategy to facilitate organizational performance.
  • Coordinate annual goal and appraisal processes.
  • Engage and participate in HR related organizations.

Requirements

  • Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in HR.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of employment law, recruiting practices, benefits, FMLA, ADA, EEO.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft and Outlook programs.
  • Experience with using and managing HRIS software and systems, preferably ADP systems.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interactive communication skills.
  • Organization skills with emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Team oriented.
  • Understanding of confidentiality within the HR department.
  • Ability to build trust and serve as an employee advocate.
  • Conscientious, organized and meticulous.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate internal procedures and policies.
  • Understanding of Behavioral Interviewing Techniques.
  • Ability to learn the basics of manufacturing processes within the facility.
  • Ability to deliver training to employees.

  • PHR certification preferred.
