The Human Resources (HR) Generalist at Republic Services, Inc. plays a crucial role in providing human resources consultation and guidance to assigned business unit managers and employees. This position is responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, and the interpretation and implementation of employment policies. The HR Generalist ensures that all policies are applied consistently and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role also involves monitoring and engaging in activities related to temporary labor utilization, onboarding, training, leaves, accommodations, and HR data analysis. In this position, the HR Generalist will provide coaching and counseling to managers and employees on policy interpretation and resolution of issues. They will disseminate and monitor corporate policies, programs, and procedures, ensuring that all employees are informed and compliant. The HR Generalist will oversee the onboarding process, working closely with management to ensure that new hires receive a thorough orientation. Additionally, they will support activities related to federal and state laws governing human resources practices, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Work Authorization and Employment Eligibility Verification, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. The HR Generalist will facilitate performance management by partnering with managers to address specific issues and provide training and coaching to ensure that performance reviews, talent assessments, and compensation planning are completed in accordance with company guidelines. They will also conduct investigations when necessary and participate in disciplinary actions as applicable. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will communicate and plan employee engagement events for assigned business units, ensuring that employee information is maintained confidentially. This role may also involve performing other job-related duties as assigned or apparent, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the HR department and the organization as a whole.
