About the position

The HR Generalist at Bell Nursery plays a crucial role in supporting the store division across the South Atlantic and Midwest regions. This position focuses on talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, and policy interpretation, with a significant emphasis on hiring and training seasonal staff. The HR Generalist will work remotely while managing a diverse workforce across multiple states, ensuring effective HR practices and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full life-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried roles for a group of stores.
  • Proactively identify talent gaps and provide creative recruiting solutions.
  • Administer the requisition/approval process including all advertising needs for the area.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources and store leadership teams for talent planning initiatives.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews and manage personnel actions/changes.
  • Interpret human resources policy and procedures for employees and store leadership.
  • Respond efficiently to HR queries from employees and store leadership.
  • Lead the Progressive Discipline process and conduct workplace investigations.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and documenting HR policies and procedures.
  • Coach, counsel, and problem-solve with operational leaders and front-line managers.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources for Learning & Development initiatives.
  • Lead the onboarding process and ensure accurate completion of new hire paperwork.
  • Participate in the design and facilitation of training efforts throughout the company.
  • Conduct training on Performance Reviews, Paycom, and compliance initiatives.
  • Facilitate the accident/incident process and manage the workers' compensation process.
  • Promote a positive work environment and increase employee engagement.
  • Coordinate benefit administration and ensure ACA compliance.
  • Organize employee recognition events and drive a positive culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in analyzing data to evaluate HR programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive data.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and multi-task effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the green industry, merchandising/retail, or distribution industry.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification.
