About the position

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department, ensuring compliance with agency policies and employment laws. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees, providing high-quality customer service and collaboration to resolve HR-related issues. The HR Generalist will handle various HR functions including payroll, benefits administration, employee evaluations, and training coordination.

Responsibilities

• Conduct day-to-day operations of the HR department.
• Ensure personnel actions and documentation comply with agency policy and employment law.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and current personnel files and records.
• Provide high-level customer service to employees and resolve HR issues.
• Coordinate HR functions with staff, supervisors, management, and outside vendors.
• Administer payroll, benefits, HRIS, and employee evaluations.
• Manage leave of absence (LOA) processes and track reports.

Requirements

• In-depth understanding of state and federal regulations related to HR.
• Ability to maintain operational standards aligned with organizational goals.
• Competent knowledge of payroll processes and HR regulations.
• Experience administering salary structures and employee benefit programs.
• Proficiency with HR technology and data management tools.
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Commitment to ethical and professional conduct in HR activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Skilled in cross-functional teamwork and collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
