About the position

The HR Generalist at Global Medical Response (GMR) plays a crucial role in the delivery of various human resource functions, ensuring that all HR-related activities align with the company's mission and values. This position is based in Tucson, AZ, and is an on-site role that requires a high-energy individual who can effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization. The HR Generalist serves as the first point of contact for HR inquiries and provides essential administrative and project management support to the Senior Human Manager and other stakeholders. In this role, the HR Generalist will be responsible for overseeing the onboarding process for new hires, assisting with employee relations issues, and participating in disciplinary meetings and investigations. The individual will conduct New Hire Orientation sessions and act as a day-to-day support for frontline employees, ensuring that employment verifications are completed efficiently. The HR Generalist will also manage various HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave administration, performance management, and training and development. Additionally, the HR Generalist will be tasked with maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations, producing reports from the HRIS system (Workday), and ensuring that all employee documentation is accurate and up-to-date. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism. The HR Generalist will also assist in the administration of leaves of absence and support the implementation of annual performance reviews, making this a dynamic and impactful role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures continuous tracking and support of new hires/onboarding processes.
  • Assist with employee relations issues and investigations, including documenting investigations as second chair, assisting leadership in corrective actions as needed.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation for new employees.
  • Function as the day-to-day support for frontline employees and complete employment verifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave; disciplinary matters; disputes; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Assist managers and employees in the use of all HRIS systems.
  • Monitor and complete Workday actions throughout the day for HR department.
  • Accurately complete Workday data entry such as: one-time bonuses, compensation changes, data changes, etc.
  • Maintain and keep updated employee documentation files in Workday (new hire & on-going existing employee documentation).
  • Responsible for HR administration including, but not limited to HRIS data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Review background checks for new employees and ensure all onboarding processes and checks have been completed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports from Workday to assist the HR department and Company managers to aid with analyzing data.
  • Ensure I-9 documentation is received and verified within government-required timeline.
  • Acts as a liaison for employees with benefits, records, employment, or payroll-related questions, etc.
  • Handles leaves of absence (LOA) administration including minimizing potential negative impact of employee mandated leaves.
  • Assist with the Company implementation of annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Human Resources, Business, Sociology, or Public Policy preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM certification is a plus.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in human resources administration or similar experience, affirmative action plan administration, and employment law application.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong people and communication skills.
  • Workday knowledge is preferred, not required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
