The HR Generalist will also manage the employment process, ensuring that applicants are treated fairly and consistently throughout their recruitment journey. This includes developing recruitment strategies, attending career fairs, and advising supervisors on hiring procedures. The position requires effective communication with teammates and managers to promote morale and facilitate new hire orientations. The HR Generalist must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for maintaining open lines of communication and interpreting company policies to ensure a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities

  • Assist and observe in various training programs to comply with McLane Company training practices and federal laws.
  • Facilitate mandatory harassment/substance abuse training and safety classes.
  • Maintain records for logo clothing, relocation billing, FMLA, Workers Compensation, and safety investigations.
  • Coordinate special events such as CMN, United Way, Health Fair, and teammate parties.
  • Support the HR Manager as needed in various HR functions.
  • Ensure the employment process is carried out within legal guidelines and treat applicants fairly.
  • Manage requisitions and develop recruitment strategies with managers.
  • Coordinate and attend career fairs, review and screen applications, and communicate application status to applicants.
  • Advise supervisors on hiring procedures and arrange pre-employment paperwork and orientation.
  • Promote teammate morale through open communication and policy interpretation.
  • Coordinate teammate meetings and assist in New Hire Orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Hands-on experience in training and coaching.
  • Strong understanding of safety practice guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; PowerPoint skills are useful.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and conflicting issues diplomatically.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with teammates at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
