About the position

The HR Generalist will be responsible for day-to-day HR functions, serving as a resource to both employees and management to support the achievement of World Class Manufacturing business goals. As a member of the Performance Ceramics and Refractories HR team in Worcester, the individual will work within a manufacturing site employing approximately 245 employees. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day Human Resources functions including employee relations, recruiting and selection, HR compliance, onboarding, recordkeeping, training and development, compensation, benefits, leaves management, workers compensation, and performance management. In addition, the person will deliver on human resources projects in support of ongoing business culture changes. In terms of HR administration, the HR Generalist will provide HR solutions support, process knowledge advice, and support to assigned client groups. They will coach functional leadership in assigned client groups on issues including application of HR policies and processes, restructuring, and employee issues to ensure consistency. The role also involves maintaining HRIS updates for hiring, promotions, terminations, transfers, etc., ensuring timely updates while following established policy and procedures. The HR Generalist will oversee and coordinate payroll functions and work with corporate to address benefits issues relating to site employees. They will initiate and track job bid postings and prepare resultant bid positioning in compliance with plant policies. In workforce planning, recruiting, and retention, the HR Generalist will partner with plant leadership to recruit and staff according to forecast. They will oversee recruiting activities, including vetting candidates, coordinating site interviews, and integrating new employees through orientation. Conducting stay and exit interviews, analyzing data for trends, and making recommendations for change will also be part of their responsibilities. For people development and training, the HR Generalist will support the location in organizing training and maintaining training records per local ISO 9001 and Saint-Gobain requirements. They will create and deliver training for new leaders in the plant to ensure consistency across departments. In HR reporting and analytics, the HR Generalist will ensure alignment of HR KPIs with strategic and operating goals on a weekly basis, analyze data to identify process improvement opportunities, and support local leadership teams to deliver results through effective project and change management. Finally, the HR Generalist will support the HR department with its involvement in World Class Manufacturing by being an active member on the People Development Pillar.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in a related subject matter; Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of Human Resource Generalist manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM certification is preferred.
  • Practiced knowledge of Human Resources processes and policies, external best practice and legal compliance.
  • Proven ability to provide concise, articulate and insightful analysis in written and verbal form, as well as translate into effective presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with HRIS/Applicant Tracking/Time & Attendance databases is necessary.
  • Self-motivated and someone who is sought out for their opinion and advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for various assigned projects.
  • Must be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
  • Incumbent will possess a high energy level and positive outlook.
