About the position

Rover is seeking an HR Generalist II to join our People Team in Seattle, WA. This hybrid position requires a minimum of one day per week in our downtown headquarters, specifically on Thursdays. The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in executing various duties within the Human Resources field, supporting both the HR Business Partner and HR Operations team. This position is a 6-9 month contract opportunity and is designed for individuals who are passionate about people and have strong relationship-building skills. As an HR Generalist, you will serve as a trusted advisor to US Frontline Operations employees, providing guidance and support on employee relations, performance management, and investigations. You will coach and develop managers to enhance their capabilities and own the Workplace Accommodations requests, collaborating with vendors and management throughout the interactive process. Additionally, you will address employee inquiries promptly and professionally, support onboarding and offboarding activities, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of HR operations, including talent management, acquisition, training, and compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining current knowledge of employment laws and regulations, and you will perform various miscellaneous duties as assigned, which may include participating in global cross-team initiatives. This position is an excellent training ground for those looking to transition into an HR Business Partner role or delve deeper into HR programs and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to US Frontline Operations employees, providing guidance on employee relations and performance management.
  • Coach and develop managers to enhance their capabilities.
  • Own Workplace Accommodations requests, partnering with vendors and management through the interactive process.
  • Address employee inquiries promptly and professionally, providing necessary information and guidance.
  • Support employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to find proactive solutions for day-to-day HR issues.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations through programs and training.
  • Maintain a current understanding of Federal and State employment laws such as Title VII, FLSA, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required, including participation in global cross-team initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in an HR Generalist role covering broad areas of HR such as talent management, acquisition, training, and compliance.
  • Expertise in handling employee relations issues, particularly with non-exempt populations in operations or retail environments.
  • Advanced experience with Leaves of Absence and Workplace Accommodations.
  • Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships with clients and team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to make decisions.
  • Critical thinking skills to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and commitment to core values.
  • Experience partnering on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Strong project/program management skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GSuite and Workday preferred.
  • Experience working with remote employees preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Human Resources Professional Certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM) preferred.
