About the position

The Right Staff is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Generalist to join a global distributor and manufacturer located in Portland, TN. This position is a full-time contract role expected to last between 6 to 9 months, with a pay rate starting at $37 per hour. The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions including employee relations, onboarding, policy and procedure implementation, recruitment, compliance with employment laws, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a high-volume environment, particularly within Distribution, Logistics, or Manufacturing sectors. This role requires a proactive approach to managing HR processes and delivering exceptional service to both candidates and employees. In this position, the HR Generalist will partner with the Talent Acquisition team to facilitate hiring processes, which includes writing job postings, scheduling interviews, and conducting candidate interviews. The role also involves ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new hires, administering HR plans and procedures, and maintaining the employee handbook. The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing new hire and termination paperwork, conducting exit interviews, and providing coaching to managers on employee relations matters. Staying updated on industry trends and compliance with employment laws is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support hiring, including recruiting, writing job postings, and scheduling and conducting interviews.
  • Understand workforce plans and conduct recruitment efforts with a focus on operations staffing.
  • Ensure a smooth pre-boarding and new hire onboarding process and conduct new hire orientations.
  • Deliver an exceptional candidate's first-day experience.
  • Administer HR plans and procedures, including policy development and maintenance of the employee handbook.
  • Assist in setting department goals and objectives.
  • Manage new hire and termination paperwork, including exit interviews.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Build rapport with employees, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and knowledge through continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred or equivalent experience in Human Resources.
  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive HR experience required.
  • Experience working and supporting a high-volume environment or facility in the Distribution, Logistics, or Manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, HRIS systems, and Recruiting Sites (Indeed, ZoomInfo, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees of all levels.
