About the position

Sharing Excess is seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources Generalist to support our mission-driven team. This part-time role will be split between managing HR functions and engaging with our vibrant community of employees. You'll work closely with our HR Consultants and Operations Director to oversee various HR activities, from recruitment to employee relations, all while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. As a dynamic HR professional, you will play a key role in a rapidly growing nonprofit, contributing to our mission of rescuing food and feeding communities. Your responsibilities will include managing the full-cycle recruitment process, serving as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related issues, assisting in the development and implementation of performance management processes, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, coordinating training programs, maintaining HR records, and contributing to building a positive organizational culture through employee engagement initiatives and team-building activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including job postings, candidate screenings, interviews, and onboarding new hires.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related issues, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, and maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate training programs and professional development opportunities for employees to support their growth and success.
  • Maintain HR records, prepare reports, and manage HR-related documentation.
  • Contribute to building a positive organizational culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives and team-building activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role, ideally in the nonprofit sector (or equivalent graduate education).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Familiarity with HR software and best practices. Knowledge of labor laws and regulations is essential.
  • A genuine interest in working for a nonprofit organization and contributing to a meaningful mission.

Benefits
