About the position

Our client in Philipsburg is seeking an HR Generalist for a contract-to-hire onsite opportunity. The position requires a commitment to maintaining and improving Quality and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems. The HR Generalist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable HSE policies and procedures, including Hazard Identification and Job Safety Analysis. This role also involves assisting in the completion and recording of annual HSE training and fire/tornado drills, as well as maintaining and creating job descriptions for various positions within the organization. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist will direct employee relations and ensure adherence to Affirmative Action regulations and labor laws such as FMLA and ADA. Acting as the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator, the HR Generalist will manage all aspects of recruiting, including advertising, interviewing, and preparing employment offers. The role also includes filing and maintaining certificates of liability, managing workers' compensation and unemployment claims, and attending job fairs to coordinate co-op opportunities with local schools. The HR Generalist will assist in creating the holiday calendar, provide monthly corporate and internal reports, and serve as a community contact for outside activities. Participation in the OSAHS 18001 system standard is also required. The position involves administering wage/salary and benefits programs, conducting organizational communications, and advising supervisors and managers on personnel effectiveness. The HR Generalist will ensure that all employees are aware of the company's code of conduct and core values, participate in new employee orientation, manage required employee training, and complete corrective actions in a timely manner. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation, maintenance, and improvements to the Quality and HSE systems.
  • Know and follow all applicable HSE policies and procedures, including Hazard ID's and JSA's.
  • Assist in assuring that all annual HSE Training and Fire/Tornado drills are completed and recorded.
  • Assist in maintaining Job Descriptions for all job titles and creating new Job Descriptions.
  • Direct Employee Relations.
  • Follow all Affirmative Action regulations and laws.
  • Follow all Labor Law (i.e., FMLA, ADA, etc.).
  • Acts as EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) Coordinator for the facility.
  • Responsible for all aspects of recruiting including advertising, interviewing, preparing and sending offer of employment.
  • File and maintain all certificates of liability.
  • Ensures legal compliance with all employee related federal/state laws.
  • Manages Workers Compensation claims.
  • Manages all Unemployment claims.
  • Attend Job Fairs and work with schools to coordinate co-op opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation of Holiday calendar and coordinate with Corporate.
  • Provide monthly Corporate and internal reports.
  • Community contact with outside activities in the community.
  • Participates in the OSAHS 18001 system standard.

  • Conducts communications throughout the organization and recommends and guides discussion of difficult issues through peers and subordinates.
  • Advises supervisors and managers regarding solutions to organizational issues consistent with Personnel Effectiveness.
  • Assures that all employees are aware of our code of conduct, operating principals and core values.
  • Take part in all new employee orientation program.
  • Manages all required employee training per Resource Management, QSP.015.
  • Responsible for completing corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Human Resources (HR) Administration
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR practices and employment laws
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HR software
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a similar HR role
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
