About the position

The HR Generalist at Advantech serves as a vital resource for employees regarding various human resource-related issues, including payroll, benefits, leave of absence, and compliance with labor laws. Under the guidance of the HR Manager, this role is the first point of contact for employees seeking assistance with HR matters. The HR Generalist is responsible for payroll administration and the maintenance of the HRIS system, specifically ADP. This includes acting as the primary contact for employees who encounter issues accessing and utilizing the ADP site and app. In addition to payroll duties, the HR Generalist manages Leave of Absence administration, which encompasses FMLA, NYS PFL, Workers Compensation, and Short and Long Term Disability claims. The role also involves recruiting candidates to fulfill staffing needs, creating and posting job advertisements through ADP and other recruitment platforms, pre-screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks. When necessary, the HR Generalist partners with temporary staffing agencies to meet hiring requirements. Onboarding new hires and conducting orientation sessions are also key responsibilities of this position. The HR Generalist is tasked with providing training related to OSHA requirements and New York State Sexual Harassment laws. Furthermore, the role includes responding to employee relations issues and assisting affiliate companies as needed. The HR Generalist is expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism and accountability, ensuring that the commitments made regarding project outcomes are met.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR-related issues.
  • Administer payroll and maintain HRIS using ADP.
  • Assist employees with issues related to accessing and using the ADP site and app.
  • Manage Leave of Absence administration including FMLA, NYS PFL, Workers Comp, and disability claims.
  • Recruit candidates to meet staffing requirements and create job ads through ADP and other sources.
  • Pre-screen applicants, schedule interviews, and conduct background checks.
  • Partner with temp agencies to fulfill staffing needs when necessary.
  • Onboard new hires and conduct orientation sessions.
  • Conduct training for OSHA requirements and NYS Sexual Harassment laws.
  • Respond to employee relations issues and assist affiliate companies as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Resources or related field.
  • Knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Good understanding of state and federal labor laws.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HRIS (ADP Workforce Now).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Organizational skills and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR/SHRM Certification is a plus.
