About the position

System One is currently seeking an HR Generalist for an industry-leading client in the Latrobe, PA area. This role is pivotal in supporting the facility in the administration of all Human Resources policies and procedures. The HR Generalist will serve as a resource and advisor on various topics including employee performance, reward and recognition, progressive discipline, diversity in the workplace, and compliance issues. The position emphasizes providing educational and teachable moments to enhance the understanding of HR practices among employees and management alike. In this role, the HR Generalist will build strong relationships with managers, assisting them in leading their teams and identifying opportunities for growth. Acting as a connector between all business units, the HR Generalist will map out dependencies and create partnerships that align with the company’s values. Strengthening employee relationships across the company is crucial, as it supports management in achieving their strategic goals. The HR Generalist will drive policy review and education while balancing operational and employee needs. This includes seeking opportunities to improve and update Human Resources policies, communication tools, and practices. The role also involves representing the client in regulatory hearings and responding to regulatory agencies, such as unemployment hearings. Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees is essential to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance, partnering with legal counsel as needed. Additionally, the HR Generalist will assist with the preparation of reports and the analysis of statistical data for metrics and regulatory purposes, identifying areas for training or growth opportunities through trending benchmarking. Responsibilities also include coordinating the development of appropriate training programs, managing attendance tracking, distributing employee evaluations, and maintaining hourly employee files. The HR Generalist will assist plant supervisors with communication notices and attendance issues, field employee complaints, and coordinate service award programs. Participation in employee orientation, development, and training, as well as administrative staff meetings, is also expected. The role requires suggesting new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the People Department and enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the facility in the administration of all Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor for employee performance, reward and recognition, progressive discipline, and compliance issues.
  • Build relationships with managers to support team leadership and identify growth opportunities.
  • Act as a connector between business units, mapping dependencies and creating partnerships.
  • Strengthen employee relationships to support management in achieving strategic goals.
  • Drive policy review and education while balancing operational and employee needs.
  • Represent the client in regulatory hearings and responses to regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management to reduce legal risks.
  • Assist with preparation of reports and analysis of statistical data for metrics and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinate development of training programs with the Manager, People Strategy and Operations.
  • Track attendance and communicate with supervisors to verify and correct absence points.
  • Distribute employee evaluations to supervisors of hourly employees.
  • Maintain and update hourly employee files, addressing changes and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist plant supervisors with communication notices and attendance issues.
  • Field employee complaints and assist in complaint resolution.
  • Support the People department with company and plant events and employee meetings.
  • Manage food services and other employee services as needed.
  • Participate in employee orientation, development, and training, and attend seminars as needed.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on employment laws and legal guidelines.
  • Administer programs to help supervisors and managers recognize employee contributions.

Requirements

  • College Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience in Human Resources or related field
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
