About the position

The Human Resource Generalist at Edmonson Electric LLC will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resource department. This includes a variety of functions such as hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay and benefits, managing leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The role requires a proactive approach to support the smooth operation of the HR department and to ensure compliance with legal standards and company policies. The HR Generalist will assist the Director of Human Resources in implementing new HR initiatives and updates into the HRIS system, ensuring that all processes are efficient and effective. In addition to administrative tasks, the HR Generalist will handle day-to-day legal compliance issues and address external employee complaints or concerns, including any litigation or investigations related to employee issues. This position requires strong communication skills to liaise with directors of construction and branch management regarding employee performance and issues. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training related to employment law. The role involves developing job postings and descriptions in collaboration with departmental managers to ensure that the right skills and competencies are identified for open positions. The HR Generalist will also develop and implement employee recognition programs and perform routine tasks necessary for administering human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes, performance management, and training and development. Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations is crucial, as is staying informed about trends and best practices in human resources and employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Human Resources in implementing new HR initiatives and updates into the HRIS system.
  • Support the smooth operation of the HR Department.
  • Handle day-to-day legal compliance issues and external employee complaints or concerns.
  • Communicate with directors of construction and branch management regarding employee issues and performance.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training related to employment law.
  • Develop job postings and job descriptions in collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Develop and implement employee recognition programs.
  • Administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
