About the position

The HR Generalist position is a vital role within the Human Resources Department, responsible for managing the daily functions that support the organization's workforce. This hybrid role requires the HR Generalist to be present in the office 2 to 3 days a week, allowing for a blend of in-person and remote work. The HR Generalist will coordinate various HR activities, including benefits administration, leave management, and employee relations, ensuring that all processes align with the company's strategic goals and comply with employment laws and regulations. In this role, the HR Generalist will administer benefits and performance management systems, oversee safety programs, and work closely with management to identify staffing needs. They will serve as a liaison for current and prospective employees, providing information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion. The HR Generalist will also support local management with employee relations, keeping them informed about employment law matters and best practices. The position involves planning and conducting new employee orientations to foster a positive organizational culture. The HR Generalist will maintain records and compile statistical reports related to employee data, conduct exit interviews to understand reasons for employee turnover, and oversee disciplinary meetings and investigations. Staying updated on trends and changes in HR practices and employment law is crucial for this role, as is maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The HR Generalist will also perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Administer benefits, performance management systems, and safety programs.
  • Work with management to identify staff vacancies.
  • Serve as a liaison for current and prospective employees regarding policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion.
  • Support local management with employee relations.
  • Keep management informed about employment law matters.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Handle questions and help resolve work-related problems between management and employees.
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning people-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommending best practices and reviewing policies to ensure compliance.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in human resources is required.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
