About the position

The HR Generalist at Nucor plays a crucial role in managing various HR functions, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. This position is responsible for coordinating employee benefits, managing leave of absence programs, administering workers' compensation, and providing HRIS support. The HR Generalist will also lead wellness initiatives and ensure the integrity of HR data while supporting the overall HR strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute division benefits and leave of absence management.
  • Administer workers' compensation and implement wellness initiatives.
  • Provide HRIS support and guidance to users.
  • Oversee employee benefit programs including medical, dental, life, and 401K plans.
  • Develop open enrollment communication strategies with regional HR teams.
  • Manage the leave of absence program and coordinate with regional benefit administrators.
  • Maintain the Product Group HRIS/Timekeeping system for data consistency and integrity.
  • Oversee HRIS support tickets and ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues and policy interpretation.
  • Act as backup to Payroll Administrator during absences or heavy workloads.
  • Manage the Student Scholarship Program and perform workers' compensation reporting.
  • Produce HR metric reports and support ad-hoc reporting requests.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an HR role.
  • Extensive experience with web-based human resources platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with reporting capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP/Success Factors.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce (Ceridian) HR/Payroll Web Application.
  • Benefits administration experience in a multi-state HR support environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction HR support environment.
