About the position

Cleveland University-Kansas City (CUKC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resource Generalist to join our HR team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, performance management, training and development, and benefits administration. This role is vital to supporting the institution's mission by fostering a positive and inclusive work environment and ensuring that HR practices align with the strategic goals of the university. The HR Generalist will play a key role in promoting the concepts of health promotion and their essential role in achieving good health, maintaining and restoring health, and optimizing human performance. In this position, the HR Generalist will support the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection. They will facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the university community. Additionally, the HR Generalist will provide guidance to managers on performance management processes, including data entry into Paycom, and support the design and delivery of training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. The role also involves assisting with the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave management, and wellness initiatives. The HR Generalist will provide employees with information and support regarding benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries. Maintaining accurate employee records and HR data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations, is also a critical responsibility. The HR Generalist will prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives, and support the development and implementation of training programs to promote professional growth, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Participation in special projects, committees, and events as needed will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a human resources role, preferably within a higher education or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other HR-related software.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Paycom is a plus.
