About the position

Randstad is representing our client, a well-established transportation management company located in Dundalk, MD, in search of an HR Generalist. This position is crucial as it serves as the primary point-of-contact for all HR-related matters at the site, collaborating closely with the Corporate office based in Florida. The HR Generalist will be responsible for fostering a collegial working environment and ensuring that the HR needs of the site are met effectively. The role is 100% on-site, emphasizing the importance of direct interaction with employees and local leadership. The ideal candidate for this position will have 4-5 years of experience in HR support roles, with a strong preference for those who have HR certifications and union experience. The HR Generalist will act as the face of HR at the site, managing employee inquiries, benefits administration, and compliance with state, federal, and local laws. This role also involves overseeing the HRIS management, coordinating recruiting processes, and preparing reports for senior leadership, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Excel. In addition to these responsibilities, the HR Generalist will handle invoicing for the department, participate in Open Enrollment, and ensure that the company adheres to its policies and procedures. This position offers a salary range of $70,000 - $75,000 per year, with work hours from 8 AM to 5 PM on the first shift. Responsibilities

  • Act as the main face of HR and primary point of contact for all site HR, benefits, and employee wellbeing matters.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with local leadership to ensure proactive HR approaches and foster trustworthy relationships with local leadership and on-site employees.
  • Manage HRIS and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local laws, including company policies and procedures.
  • Handle invoicing for the department, including supplies, purchase orders, and contractor workforce payroll/billing.
  • Coordinate recruiting processes and participate in Open Enrollment.
  • Respond in a timely manner to employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of experience in HR support roles.
  • HR Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Union experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with UKG (1 year preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in benefits administration, onboarding, and employee screenings.
