About the position

The HR Generalist position in Bellevue, WA, is a pivotal role that supports the human resources responsibilities and activities of the division. In this capacity, the HR Generalist will undertake and facilitate various HR functions, including recruitment processes, performance management, policy application, employee relations, regulatory compliance, and training and development. This role is designed to provide functional human resources support to Area Human Resources Managers and Human Resources Vice Presidents, acting as an employee advocate and business partner. The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of programs that drive the Division Strategies and Company Initiatives. In addition to the core HR functions, the HR Generalist will promote and maintain positive employee relations within a safe and productive work environment. This includes implementing policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws. The position also involves assisting in talent acquisition and recruitment processes, providing support to employees on various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation, and resolving any issues that may arise. Enhancing job satisfaction is a key focus, which will be achieved by promptly resolving issues, applying policies and benefits, and organizing team-building activities. The HR Generalist will also support performance management and corrective action programs, assist with maintaining Affirmative Action Plans, and lead employee engagement initiatives and events. Furthermore, the role includes supporting learning and development initiatives, identifying learning opportunities for employees, and maintaining accurate employee data and records within HRIS, ATS, timekeeping systems, and document repositories. Gathering and analyzing data with useful HR metrics will also be part of the responsibilities, ensuring that the HR function is data-driven and effective.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain positive employee relations in a safe and productive work environment

  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying policies and benefits and organizing team building activities
  • Support performance management and corrective action programs
  • Assist with maintaining Affirmative Action Plans and conducting good faith efforts
  • Lead and support employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Support learning and development initiatives and identify learning opportunities for employees
  • Support annual open enrollment process
  • Maintain accurate employee data and records within HRIS, ATS, timekeeping system, and document repositories
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or at least four (4) years of work experience in human resources
  • Must have at least one (1) year of work experience in Human Resources, or have completed a Sherwin-Williams development program in Human Resources
  • Must be willing to travel as required for this position
  • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must have received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on your most recent performance appraisal
  • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must have completed all HR Cloud eLearning courses required for your current position

Nice-to-haves

  • Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Organizational/Industrial Psychology, or Business Management
  • Have a Professional in Human Resources ("PHR"), Senior Professional in Human Resources ("SPHR"), SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Have prior work experience providing HR support to multiple facilities or locations
  • Have prior work experience ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
  • Have prior work experience using an HRIS and/or ATS
  • Have prior work experience maintaining an Affirmative Action Plan
  • Have prior work experience maintaining and analyzing data
  • Have prior work experience using timekeeping systems
