About the position

The Human Resources Coordinator will play a vital role in coordinating various human resources activities, focusing on employment and employee relations. This position will work closely with the corporate Human Resources Director to assist in fostering a positive company culture, managing recruitment processes, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and overseeing employee benefits for all California-based offices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration of company-wide HR policies and procedures, ensuring they align with corporate objectives and comply with federal and state legal requirements. In this role, the HR Coordinator will be involved in recruiting and interviewing candidates, providing management with hiring recommendations, and coordinating the entire hiring process. This includes conducting background checks, negotiating salary offers, and issuing job confirmation letters. The coordinator will also facilitate employee relations activities, such as counseling, policy interpretation, new employee orientation, and recognition programs. Additionally, the HR Coordinator will conduct exit interviews, respond to inquiries regarding organizational processes, and lead ongoing training sessions to support employee development. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential employee relations issues and making recommendations to management. The HR Coordinator will also be responsible for administering workers' compensation and unemployment claims, as well as assisting in the management of compensation and benefits programs. This role is essential in ensuring that the organization maintains a positive work environment and adheres to all relevant employment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administration of company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements.
  • Recruit and interview candidates; provide management with hiring recommendations.
  • Coordinate hiring process, including conducting background and reference checks, negotiating salary offers, and issuing job confirmation letters.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct employee-relations activities and programs including employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs.
  • Coordinate programs to attract qualified candidates through the design and placement of position announcements, advertising, and participation in job fairs.
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees; communicate findings to management.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the organization's processes, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct ongoing information and training sessions to develop employees and provide support and problem resolution.
  • Coordinate distribution/communication of projects including Employee Policy handbook, 401(k) open enrollment, and employee recognition.
  • Identify potential employee-relations issues and make recommendations to management.
  • Conduct investigations into claims of harassment or other company guideline violations.
  • Coordinate administration of workers' compensation and unemployment claims.
  • Assist in administration of company compensation and benefits programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent, four to seven years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of California HR laws and regulations.
  • Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.
  • Experience in recruiting and staffing.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
