About the position

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is seeking an HR Generalist for our Gadsden, AL plant. In this role, you will be responsible for providing customer-focused HR programs, services, and consultation aimed at enhancing individual, team, management, and overall business performance. This position is integral to ensuring that our HR practices align with Meyer Utility Structures' values, philosophies, policies, and programs. You will also manage various duties typically associated with an office environment, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the HR department. As an HR Generalist, you will serve as a centralized Human Resources service center for employees and managers, addressing first-tier questions and inquiries related to benefits and HR policies. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the escalation of employee grievance issues, interpreting policies and guidelines, implementing business events, balancing workforce needs, and conducting new employee orientations. You will maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy and adherence to data privacy and security processes, while also completing HR projects within the plant and business unit. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will answer questions from employees and management regarding HR policies and processes, implement and maintain departmental procedures, and conduct orientations for new hires and benefits. You will assist employees with enrollment in programs and manage the processing of new hire and benefits paperwork. Providing general administrative support to daily departmental operations and training programs will also be part of your role. Furthermore, you will assist management with tracking information related to policies and benefits, such as Leaves of Absence, FMLA, and Worker's Compensation, and may participate in confidential investigations of complex employee relations issues. You could also prepare and represent the organization at unemployment hearings, along with other administrative duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management with employee retention initiatives.
  • Participate in confidential investigations of complex employee relations issues.
  • Prepare and represent the organization at unemployment hearings.
  • Provide general administrative support to daily departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in an HR environment or a Degree in Human Resources.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with UltiPro/UKG is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and assess priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong proofreading and presentation skills.
