About the position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our thriving and growing construction team in the Baltimore, MD area. This role is crucial in supporting our HR functions and ensuring a positive work environment for our employees. The HR Generalist will be involved in various aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with HR laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices and a commitment to fostering a supportive workplace culture. In this position, you will manage the end-to-end recruitment process, which includes job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring. You will also coordinate and conduct new hire orientations to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new employees. As a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, you will play a key role in resolving employee conflicts and disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner. Promoting a positive work environment through employee engagement initiatives will be a significant part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will ensure that company policies and procedures are up-to-date and comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Assisting with audits and regulatory inspections will also be part of your duties. You will administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans, processing enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and timely. Identifying training needs and coordinating employee development programs will be essential, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential employee records. You will prepare HR reports and metrics as required by management and participate in HR-related projects and initiatives to improve HR practices and contribute to organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software (e.g., HRIS).
