The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, which includes a variety of essential tasks such as hiring and onboarding new employees, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is crucial in providing support to the HR team and working on special projects that align with the company's goals. The HR Generalist will ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations, which is vital for maintaining a fair and legal workplace environment. In this position, the HR Generalist will assist with human resource operations, including recruiting, selection, orientation, and training, often with the assistance of management. A strong understanding of local Labor and Employment Law is necessary to effectively advise management on compliance matters. The HR Generalist will maintain policies and procedures related to recruitment, compensation, and benefits, working closely with Corporate HR for guidance. Additionally, the role involves assisting in compliance activities such as benefit and employment audits, and managing employment agreements and new hire paperwork for payroll and HR records. The HR Generalist will also support the QHSSE program, document HR processes and procedures, and assist with internal training programs. General clerical and administrative support for the HR team is also part of the job, along with playing an active role in improving employment policies and practices. The HR Generalist will help develop and implement various HR programs and culture initiatives as directed by the VP of HR and the Management Team. Maintaining accurate personnel, medical, retirement, training, and contract files is essential, as is compiling reports from these records as needed. Collaboration with the Finance and Accounting Team is necessary to provide payroll support, ensuring that employee and employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and promptly. The HR Generalist will assist in administering employee benefits programs, including retirement plans, medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance plans, temporary disability programs, and wellness programs. Scheduling pre-employment testing, tracking employee annual leave, and assisting with leave requests, including FMLA and Leave of Absence, are also key responsibilities. The role includes implementing new hire orientation and employee recognition programs, conducting background checks, and handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors. Participation in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations is also expected, along with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
