HR Generalist

About the position

The HR Generalist is responsible for coordinating a variety of human resources activities to support plant operations under the direction of the Plant Human Resources Manager. This role involves managing recruitment processes, maintaining personnel records, assisting with employee relations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor employment applications to ensure completion.
• Maintain weekly headcount records for full-time and temporary employees.
• Develop recruiting sources and post job positions internally and externally.
• Conduct initial interviews and verify applicant qualifications.
• Assist managers with performance reviews and unemployment hearings.
• Complete orientation programs for new employees.
• Ensure timely completion of new hire and benefits enrollment paperwork.
• Work with temporary employment agencies to manage payroll records and invoicing issues.
• Conduct exit interviews and maintain personnel records.
• Coordinate employee leave of absence paperwork with Corporate HR.
• Assist with employee relations issues and involve Corporate HR as needed.
• Perform quarterly audits of attendance cards for accuracy.
• Distribute weekly payroll checks and resolve payroll issues with employees.
• Organize plant facility sponsored events and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S) from a four-year college or university.
• At least two years of experience in a Human Resources role.
• Computer skills and data entry experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
