About the position

The HR Generalist will administer human resources activities for the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins University. This role involves managing HR and payroll functions for over 500 faculty, staff, and students, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with university policies. The HR Generalist serves as the primary contact for HR-related inquiries and supports various HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide range of HR support and consulting services to faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Coordinate the employment process, including job descriptions, offers, and reference checks.
  • Advise on salary equity and coordinate the visa process for international faculty.
  • Manage employee relations, including grievance resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Assist in financial reporting related to faculty salaries and equity analysis.
  • Conduct training for new staff on HR processes and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Three years of progressive experience in a professional human resources capacity.
  • Knowledge of HR laws, payroll tax issues, and compensation practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves
