The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an HR Generalist to provide professional and technical guidance to the continuing, temporary, and student staff within the department. This role is crucial in managing all aspects of HR for student and temporary employees, as well as overseeing HR operations for all OIT employees. The HR Generalist will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of HR and will be responsible for onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and payroll processing. The position also involves participating in HR strategic continuous improvement projects and providing professional support to the Assistant Director. In this role, the HR Generalist will utilize a high degree of independent discretion and decision-making to assist supervisors in recruitment, hiring, and setting appropriate compensation for student and temporary employees. This includes drafting offer letters, managing onboarding processes, and developing training materials to orient new hires. The HR Generalist will also supervise student work-study and ensure compliance with eligibility requirements for student employment. Additionally, the position will manage biweekly payroll and advise on termination processes for student and temporary staff. The HR Generalist will handle onboarding logistics for new employees, ensuring they attend necessary orientation sessions and understand onboarding expectations. This role will also provide backup support for scheduling candidate interviews and managing interview logistics. The HR Generalist will interpret and apply federal and state laws, university rules, and payroll procedures to ensure accurate leave management and timely payroll processing. Conducting exit surveys and collaborating with the Assistant Director to improve retention efforts are also key responsibilities of this position. The HR Generalist will actively participate in OIT HR projects, contribute to the development of HR processes, and provide personnel data in custom reports as requested. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and the HR Generalist will be expected to stay updated on HR best practices and policies. This position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work.
